Being pretty
User-friendly web content looks and feels good. It's designed to delight the reader. It's easy to understand and it's easy to navigate. If you're pretty, people remember you.
Being smart
Purposeful web content communicates a message. It helps readers complete the tasks they came to your site to do. If you're smart, people want to be your customer.
We believe in being pretty and smart.
Our history
In 2006, Natasha Golding developed a new communications business called The Right Words. The business grew and become increasingly focused on the communications that happen online.
By August 2008 it became clear that a new name was needed. After much thinking and planning we launched our new name, logo and website in February 2009.

The way businesses communicate has changed. The internet has led a revolution against fluff and meaningless marketing-speak. Today we want to talk and relate in an authentic and human way.
My pursuit of authenticity led me into my early career in the not-for-profit sector. Then, in 2006, it inspired me to create my own communications business.
Before being prettysmart*, the business was called The Right Words. In the beginning I focused on writing for Singapore-based magazines including Time Out, August Man and Expat Living.
After several months, I began to get requests from small businesses to work on website and print copy. Aside from the writing it became clear that I could help people with the thinking and planning that went into creating usable, clear and authentic copy.
Before The Right Words
I was part of the team behind the 2006 Singapore Biennale, managing the 400 strong volunteer workforce. In England I was senior manager in a not-for-profit business that provided business development support to charities. In this role, I led my department through a major modernisation process and made our services available online for the first time.
In 2001 a Plain English Campaign training course inspired me to think about, and lead, a change in the way the business communicated. I went on to head a team that edited all our communications. I also wrote and delivered internal training courses. Beyond work I'm fascinated by ideas and the way thinking and reflection change our world. I enjoy reading, time with family and all the small things that make life meaningful.
